canine conundrum.

If you know anything about me, you know I will never pass up an opportunity to dote on my sweet doglet. My sweet Maizie is a 3-year-old Maltese, and a mini-me of crazy, spastic, sweetheart personality rolled into a 10-pound ball of fluff. I adore her.

Tangent time: several years ago, I worked at a boutique in my little college town, and was frequently in contact with a woman who was constantly divulging details about just how pricey every single detail of her life was... down to how much her little accessory dog cost her. Her Coton de Tulear was one of the sweetest little dogs I'd ever seen... tiny and cottony, timidly and obediently resting in her ridiculously overpriced carrier. So okay, I get it... your dog is rare!

Flash forward back to me, circa Christmas 2007, and I add this little sasspot to my life!

I immerse myself in all things Maltese, so I can be prepped to be the best little dog mama ever. And while I haven't been around many Malteses at all, the breed seems oddly familiar to me... and then I remembered my early exposure to the dog so rare, it must be introduced by its pricetag.

Meanwhile... the resemblance is crazy uncanny! I know how so many breeds are easily confused... Lhasas and Shih Tzus, Jack Russells and Rat Terriers... but Cotons and Malteses are so identical to me... and I'm a Maltese mama! In the midst of finding Coton images for this post, I stumbled across several that were IDENTICAL to my Maizers.

What do you think? Do you have pets? Did you grow up with a particular breed, or are you planning to add a puppy to your fam?

And with that, we'll be signing off now. Peace out, G's!
