texas wildfires.

[photo passed around on twitter. features the ominous smoke clouds over the interstate in Bastrop.]

Please, please take a minute to pray for my neighbors to the south. All over central and south Texas, chaotic wildfires are sweeping the dangerously dry land. Most currently, over 800 homes have been totally destroyed.

Disasters like this aren't initially considered a Katrina-level nature in most peoples' minds, but in the hearts and lives of those who have lost their every possession, this is inconceivable. I'll admit that while I have an empathetic and giving heart, usually I pray for the victims of natural disasters and think of them fairly often, but it's easy to get caught right back up in the everyday of life. I'm striving to remember that for these people, their "everyday" is changed dramatically. The town of Bastrop has been hit severely, with more than 80 pets displaced and many of them injured.

Please pray for the victims of the Texas wildfires.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea." -- Psalm 46:1-2
