One of my first intense, die-hard loves was for the Beatles. What can I say? I was born in the wrong era.
I remember listening to Anthology (on cassette tapes, thank you very much) on family roadtrips across the country. My brothers and I giggled to the lyrics of "Three Cool Cats," and I swooned over the bubble-gummy "Eight Days a Week." I later played "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" in the high school marching band, pondered "Imagine," and cried my eyes out to "Let It Be" when my Mimi died. As much as I just love music, and as varied as my tastes are, they are one particular element that just doesn't fade.
I know I'm a day late, but Matchbook marked a Beatles milestone yesterday on their monthly social calendar. Yesterday, the Beatles released "Love Me Do," their first single, to the UK.
And yes, this one is one of the few I keep on my ipod (there are just way too many hits to keep in circulation on my ipod... but rest easy, I have them safely tucked away in my itunes).
Do you have a favorite Beatles song? C'mon... you can tell me. :)
