"some music needs air. roll down your window." -- elizabethtown
That Cameron Crowe sure knows his craft.
Speaking of which... I've stumbled across some fabulous music lately. And yes, I can vouch for the fact that sometimes, the latest jam just somehow sounds better when you're drifting down a highway, windows down, wind whipping your hair into a knotted mess, the heat of the sun tinging your head through the gaping sunroof.
Nashville radio has been good to me. My preferred genre would probably be indie music--and my favorite radio station ever hails from Nashville (Lightning 100!). Over the past few trips to Tennessee, I've discovered a few bands that I can't stop listening to. Bonus--on Sunday nights, they have a "Nashville Sunday Night," where different bands will perform live from 3rd & Lindsley. I'm such a sucker for live music. Preferably in a small venue, full of people who are just as addictive to an indie sound as I am.
Jam of choice: "Little Talks." I love their sound so, so much. I love the lyrics, I love the beat, I love their sound. The band is out of Iceland, but their sound is a little bit like Mumford.
Nashville-ish locals. Their sound is Temptations meets She & Him. Super different for what's flooding the radio airwaves, but such a cool shift.
Sort of James Blunt-ish. Love his skill on the guitar... opened for John Mayer at one point.
This video of Of Monsters and Men encompasses everything I love about indie music. Just a group of (uber-talented) people, clearly loving just collaborating on something. Listen to it, and then listen to it again. I cannot stop playing this song.
What have you been listening to lately?
